ELVA GLENN BELL

Elva Glenn Bell has what it takes to stand up for what is right. Since 1954, when she, along with the NAACP and the Willow Grove NAACP, pushed for the integration of Abington School District, she has been at the forefront assuring equal rights, advocating for children, and making life better for the elderly.

A founding member and Executive Board member of the Willow Grove NAACP, she has also volunteered for Montgomery County Red Cross, Abington Library, Interfaith Council of Eastern Montgomery United Neighbors, and Black Women's Educational Alliance of Montgomery County.

She helped create the first Guide to Services for Retired Residents of Abington Township and is very active at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is a member of Abington's No Place for Hate Response Team and the Abington School District Human Relations Advisory Council.
