JUWAN ADAMSJuwan Adams is an 18 year old recent graduate of Abington Senior High School. Juwan has been fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer since the 8th grade. Despite everything he’s been through, he has managed to hold down a part time job, maintain a 4.25 GPA, and serve as a math tutor. Juwan is a Lieutenant in his high school marching band, the Captain of his drum line and has been inducted in both the National Juniors Honor Society and the National Honors Society. He has been looking forward to senior year for quite some time. Sadly, his cancer returned in May 2019 and instead of letting this damper his spirits, he’s been on a mission to raise awareness to the lack of minorities on the national bone marrow registry. To date, he has successfully added over 11,000 new people to the registry and half of them are minorities. Despite everything that’s going on, Juwan is in good spirits and just completed his 4th annual toy drive for CHOP’s Oncology Department. He plans to attend college online at Maryville University until his doctors clear him then transfer to the University of Pennsylvania to study engineering and business. Juwan is the epitome of what the Class of 2020 stands for... strength, resilience and determination.
