HOWARD TRAIVERS
2019 Golden Heart Award Winner

Howard Traivers' volunteers to the homeless to relay to others that you should never allow your life to be controlled by troubling circumstances.

After back surgery, being implanted with an artificial hip, having ankles, wrists, an entire spine and other body parts ravaged with arthritis, there are many roads he could have chosen to look to for comfort. Even more relevant to the people he serves: He spent three years living in an abandoned train tunnel and later spent sixteen months surviving in the basement of an abandoned warehouse.

For Howard, the words of Isak Dinesen speak volumes, "I think these difficult times have helped me to understand better than before how rich and beautiful life is in every way and that the things that one goes around worrying about are of no importance whatsoever." What is important is the service to God and his children!
