2017 Golden Heart Award Honoree

JOHN SANDERS

John W. Sanders is a high school instructor for the Pennsbury School District, teaching Applied Engineering and Robotics. He is also a part-time professor at Delaware Valley University, teaching Information Technology and Business Administration.

John holds BS degrees from Cheyney University, Master’s degrees from The George Washington University, and has completed the administrative certification program from Cabrini University.

John presently serves as the advisor and sponsor of 3 after school clubs: Pennsbury’s Multi-Cultural Youth Leaders Club (MCYL), the high school chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the award-winning Pennsbury Sea Falcons Submersible Robotics Team.

“Working with 3 very diverse groups helps me realize that our students have many more similarities, than they have differences.”

“I love what I do, in both the high school and college environments, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with adding enjoyment to education.”

John is the husband a lovely and energetic wife, who’s also happens to be his best friend, a father, of successful and talented sons, a grandfather of an energetic boy, and a son of very wise parents. “I’m still trying to figure out who has the most energy, between my wife and grandson.”

John’s words of wisdom: “When it comes to choosing between being kind and being right, always choose to be kind, because when you’re kind, you’re always right.”
