In 2010, he was assigned to the position of Community Policing Division Commander and was later promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. In this position, Lieutenant Molloy manages many of the programs designed to foster a better relationship with the community with special attention given to youth education and mentoring programs. These programs include the following: Crime Prevention, Drug Awareness Resistance Education (DARE), Police Explorer Program, Youth Aid Panel, Citizens Police Academy, PAL Police Academy, Roslyn After-School and Summer Camp Programs, Teen Community Service, Abington Police Athletic League, Citizens and Police Together (CAPT), Volunteers in Policing, Town and Block Watch, Neighbor DisputeMediation, and No Place for Hate. Lieutenant Molloy is on the Board of the Helping Hand Foundation and is the Co-Chair of the Abington Community Task Force. |
In 2015, Lieutenant Molloy was promoted to the position of Patrol Division Commander, where he is responsible for patrol operations, K-9, Crisis Negotiations, Field Training, Honor Guard, and SWAT Operations. In 2015, he was also named commander of the SWAT team. Lieutenant Molloy has a B.A. in Political Science and a M.S. in Law Enforcement Management/Homeland Security both from Saint Joseph’s University. He is a graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership Program and the FBI National Academy. He was also honored by the Eastern Montgomery County Human Relations Commission with the Law Enforcement Civil Rights award. In 2013, Abington Township Police Department received the prestigious Community Policing Award given by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, a selection that was made possible because of the great work done by all members of the Department, the Community Policing Division, the Abington School District, and many of our other partners including the Willow Grove NAACP. Lieutenant Molloy was the recipient of Law Enforcement Officer of the Year awards given by the Willow Grove NAACP, Montgomery County Human Relations Commission and the Abington Police Athletic League. He is truly honored to receive this award and share it with all of the dedicated men and women in the Abington Township Police Department. Off the job, Lieutenant Molloy serves as an adjunct instructor of Criminology at Penn State, Abington. He is a big Eagle’s fan, enjoys vacationing at the Jersey shore and spending time with his family. He has been married for twenty-five years to his wife and high-school sweetheart, Carolyn. They have two sons, Nicholas and Edward. |
