D'VORAH HORN
2014 Golden Heart Award Winner

D’vorah Horn’s mission is to bring art to places where spirit, an animating force for life, is in need of mending. Currently she fulfills this mission by sharing her artwork in common areas and patient rooms within rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and hospice care centers. The exhibit is titled, Healing Window Paintings.

Healing Window Paintings are created with the conscious intention of being a source for healing. Ms. Horn paints on clear plastic, using colorfast paints. Her painting style varies from completely abstract to realism and impressionistic imagery. The paintings are placed on windows where their colors glow on grey days, are illuminated from the outside at night, and cascade into the interior spaces like stained glass when the sun comes through.

Ms. Horn’s goals are to expand both the scope and breadth of the concept of “Mending Spirit” through healing art. She plans to continue rotating the current exhibit through small centers and into larger hospital settings and clinics, even expanding to public sites, schools, clinics, drug rehabilitation centers, correction facilities, all of which would benefit from art that heals and mends spirit.

She would like to see the individual sites have permanent installations, specifically designed for patients’ needs, and would like to collaborate with patients, family members, staff and community members in the future.

Devorah Horn’s Healing Window Paintings bring the many qualities of color to patients and staff alike – aiding healing, and keeping their spirits intact, alive and strong.
