Police Officer Robert Mann (Ret.) has lived in Abington Town-ship all of his life. He is a 1972 Graduate of Abington High School as well as a graduate of the Montgomery County Commun-ity College and the Philadelphia College of Textile and Science.
Bob was hired by the Abington Police Department in 1979 and was a founding member of the Canine Unit. He was active with this unit for 14 years! In addition, Bob was a member of the United States Police Canine Association and received numerous awards.
Officer Mann was a member of the first Abington Police Department Tactical Unit and was involved with several undercover anti-crime assignments, served as a member of the Commendation Review Board for more than 30 years, was a member of the Bicycle Unit and was Assistant Fire Marshall.
Officer Mann also served as Police Liaison to the Abington Twp. Fire Department Haz-Mat Team.
His awards and commendations are numerous and include a Class II Commendation for Valor as well as awards from the US Police Canine Association.
Bob also served as the PAL (Police Athletic League) Committee Chairperson and is also a Free and Accepted Mason being a member of Bray Lodge and a Life Member of member of the Abington Police Department. Officer Mann retired from the Police Department this past April.
