First of all, I want to thank Ms. Donna Moser for nominating me for this prestigious forward. Coming from an individual like her means everything to me. Ms. Moser herself is a role model for all of us.  Her patient care, dedication, humility and outright selfless service to patients and the caregivers is exemplary. I truly feel humbled and honored to be nominated for this award.

I am a heart failure cardiologist at Einstein Medical Center.  My practice involves taking care of cardiac patients.  I became a physician for only one reason.  That reason was to be there for my patients when they are at the lowest point in their lives.  My sole source of attention, focus and commitment is my patient and their loved ones.  What brings meaning to my job every day is my genuine desire to give hope to my patients in their hour of need.  Hope that a failing heart could become a thriving heart by simple smile, encouragement, support and of course appropriate medical intervention.  

I have always believed that as physicians and health provider we not only have to support patient's medical needs but also their emotional needs in these difficult times. A simple but heartfelt statement like" everything is going to be all right" means so much to the patients and their family members.

I also believe that taking care of patients is not one person's show.  It takes a team of doctors, nurses, social workers and countless other people.  I have been blessed to be surrounded by many amazing and caring individuals from receptionists at the office to the medical assistants triaging the patient , to nurses like Ms. Donna Moser.  It is the team effort which helps heal the broken hearts.
