KAY HUGHES

Hi, my name is Kay Hughes and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I was nominated for this award by Jana Mallis. We have been coworkers for a few years now at Malvern Community Health Services, where I am now a Clinical Supervisor. I also have clients through a group private practice called Unpacked, doing virtual counseling with adults, children, and families. In my clinical practice I enjoy working with attachment theory and being involved with families to encourage better communication. I love to see caregivers feel more confident supporting their child with new skills. I am grateful for my friends and family who support me and encourage me to take time to myself so that I can “pour from a full cup”. It is very meaningful to receive this award and see Jana point out people in the mental health community who often go unnoticed. I value that The Golden Heart award honors those who do their job without a “thank you” most days but show up for their community despite hard times. Thank you for this recognition and the work you do to honor others.
